There weren't a lot of impressive yellows this summer, but then, I haven't worked that color much in hybridizing over the last couple of seasons...that changed after I saw a few of the seedlings shown below...yellow crosses were made this past summer and will be again in the greenhouse this winter...many will feature LUNAR EMPIRE as one parent, plus 2 of the SUPREME EMPIRE x AMERICA's MOST WANTED select seedlings from the cross that Richard Norris gave me several years ago...
(SUPREME EMPIRE x AMERICA'S MOST WANTED 1) X T06-01 - 30" scape, 4 laterals, 32 buds, instant rebloom
MOMENTUM X RAM - this seedling didn't have much in the way of habit, but I'll certainly remake the cross this winter in the greenhouse...
MACHO MACHO MAN X BUTTER CREAM - very large, very flat, very beautiful...I just wish it was very branched and very well budded! 28" tall, 1-2 laterals...a natural for a cross with LUNAR EMPIRE...
CELESTIAL ARMY x ELEANOR ROOSEVELT - this 6" seedling has the greenest edge I've ever seen on a daylily but I can't seem to photograph it...very thick substance, 2 laterals on a 23" scape.
LUNAR EMPIRE X UNKNOWN (99.99% sure the missing parent is RAM) - 32" tall, 7" bloom, 2 laterals with an unfilled bract on a 1st year seedling...
T06-01 X LUNAR EMPIRE - not as fancy as I was expecting, but very flat with tremendous substance, wide, blunt sepals, too...short scape though and few branches...
MOMENTUM X UPON THIS ROCK - certainly not what I was expecting, though good old MO has been known to throw yellows here...short at 22", 3 laterals, 5.5" blooms...
