Once again, T06-01 leads the charge as I try to develop northern hardy, fancy edged near white daylilies. A cross of GREAT WHITE x J.T DAVIS (recent Stout Medal winner), T06-01 can put ruffles on fence posts. Here are some near white seedlings that bloomed from it this past summer, along with some other near whites of different parentage...
SPACECOAST STARBURST X T06-01 - 1st year bloom, 6" blooms, 3 laterals, faint pink blush on the petals, and some teeth...
AUGUST WEDDING X T06-01 - I made a long cross of these 2 parents in 2008 - the resulting seedlings are beautiful, most rebloom and open easily despite their ornate ruffled edges, and some had great scapes for first year seedlings...a couple have pinched throats - several even have large and small sharks teeth...most of them have a slight pink overlay but a couple are very white...here are 3 from the cross...
This seedling was 6.5" on a 28" scape with 3 lateral branches and instant rebloom...
T06-01 x LUNAR EMPIRE - of course, I had to make this cross - the parents were too good not to and the resulting seedlings have proved my faith in both parents...this is a first year bloom after a hard, 15 minute shower...it's absolutely untouched, with substance like plastic. The scape had 3 laterals and an unfilled bract
(SUPREME EMPIRE X AMERICA'S MOST WANTED 1) X T06-01 - Most of the seedlings from this cross were beautiful lemon yellows with sculpted throats, but this near white stood out for many reasons...it's 30" tall, the blooms are 6", the first scape had 3 lateral branches, then it rebloomed - and once again, there are numerous teeth.
(WOMEN SEEKING MEN x WHITE PERFECTION) X T06-01 - huge 8" blooms, very, very white color, nice ruffling and easy fertility...
ISLE OF MAN x PRELUDE TO PANOPLY - 7" blooms on a 30" scape, 2 laterals and 25 buds, excellent substance, fertile, slight pink overlay
BELLE OF ASHWOOD X PATHWAY OF PEACE - too pink to be a real near white, but what a performer - 6" blooms on a 28" scape, 2 laterals, 24 buds, instant rebloom...
WINTER SPRINGS x T06-02 (DIAMONDS AND PEARLS x CLARIFICATION) - this one was growing at the edge of a seedling bed in fairly deep shade with little chance to show how it could perform...still, it had 2 laterals and 18 buds on a 26" scape, with an unfilled bract...the blooms often had a slight green color on the edge in the morning - a couple blooms hung up during the season though...
WOMEN SEEKING MEN X WINTER SPRINGS - I was expecting a ruffled pink, not a near white with such an extended throat that the bloom looks green...
