2010 Summer Seedlings - Tetraploid Teeth and 'Others'

Like many hybridizers, I've gotten to the point where I really like toothy daylilies - here are the results of some early hybridizing efforts for teeth.

T08-03 - TRULY ANGELIC x RED FANG - Two photos, taken on different days, of my best red toothy seedling - 6" blooms on a 26" scape, 2 or 3 laterals, 20 to 25 buds, dormant, fertile both ways, stunning color...my friends Dan Robarts and Scott Bennett both praised this one when they visited this past summer...

TRULY ANGELIC x RED FANG - sib to the one above - when I saw T08-03 and the siblings from the 2007 crosses, I immediately remade the cross in 2008 - this is the best of those seedlings from the 'new' batch...6" blooms on a 26" inch scape, 4 lateral branches, very easy pod and pollen fertility...as the season went on, I grew to like this one more and more, especially as it's a mid-late bloomer and extended the season...

WOMEN SEEKING MEN x UNKNOWN (99.99% sure the pollen parent is SHORES OF TIME) - 36" tall, 6.5" blooms, 3 laterals, fertile both ways, this one gets teeth into the larger sized blooms.

T09-01 - GYPSY ROSE x RED FANG - 6" blooms on a 24" scape, 2-3 laterals, easily fertile both ways

LESLIE RENEE x UPON THIS ROCK - 6" blooms on a 25" scape, 2 laterals with a couple of open bracts - 1st year seedling...fertility unknown

FORESTLAKE RAGAMUFFIN x PLAYING WITH SHARKS - this is a poor photo - the color is usually much richer looking (at least to my eye) but I can't seem to capture it with the camera...there are hundreds of little spicules/teeth on the petal edges, 6" blooms on a 24" scape, 2 laterals, fertile both ways

OTHER SEEDLINGS

Some seedlings just don't seem to fit into a category - here are a few that Ive liked in the garden this year...

ALTERED STATE x MOMENTUM - 6.5" blooms on a 27" scape, 2-3 laterals - every bloom had this pattern or a similar version of it this past summer...fertile both ways.

BORDELLO QUEEN x MOMENTUM - very round 6.5" blooms on a 30" scape, 4 laterals, tremendous substance, faint eye, corduroy ribbing, a few small serrations on the edge, fertile both ways...the amber/orange with coral highlights dominated the 1st year seedling row it grew in each day it was in bloom...

ROGUE x FIRE CORAL - 2 photos of the bloom on different days - 4.5" blooms on a 25" scape, 2 laterals...I've never seen anything like this one...the exaggerated ruffles from FC are tipped with gold knobs, hooks, horns and  teeth from ROGUE...throw in the strong orange petal color and the triangular yellow throat and the blooms are very dramatic...fertile both ways...
